Question on port 1433 used for SQL

I was wondering if anyone can tell me what information is passed over port 1433 from a console to the core when making SQL requests?  our Systems and Security team will not allow us to have the console on our systems from our office so we have to navigate via RDP to a system in the data center.

 

The concern is port 1433 is not encrypted and usernames and passwords to the SQL database is flowing over that port and can easily be compromised.

 

I found the following document but cant seem to see if any username / password is passed along from the console to the core?

 

We are running 2018.1 Ivanti EPM at the moment.

 

If anyone can provide or point me to documentation, it would be greatly appreciated.

Hello there ,

 

so , we installed recently the iVanti Landesk i have too many old patches ( 1990's ... 2000...2013....2016..2017)

i delete manually the patches from the patch and compliance ==> scan folder but they downloaded again and again

i tried also to deleted them from the local repository but it seems like the same problem

 

is there any to delete them , i want to keep just the 2018 vulnerabilities

i want to uninstall the patches from the console but the option is grayed !!!

 

Is there any way to uninstall them from the consol !!!!

'Do Not Disturb' option in Agent Settings and Skype for Business

I want to avoid popping up software distribution or patch messages when a user is presenting with Skype for Business but it seems the only relevant executable in use is Communicator.exe which is always present even when Skype is dormant. Has anyone come across this or have a solution?

Is it possible via LANDesk inventory to be able to gather a particular line out of an INI file on a client?

 

So for example I have a SYSTEM.INI file:

I want to gather the value that "wave" is equal to in the INI file.

Demote and Force self-elected PXE rep

Hey All,

I've been struggling with trying to figure out how to force demote and force elect a PXE rep in self-electing services.  Everything we have currently setup works as intended but sometimes there's a requirement to demote and force a pxe rep due to time restrictions.

 

A scenario to help.  Device 1-PXE is on subnet 1.2.3.0/24 and is moved to a brand new subnet 1.4.5.0/24.  I now need 1-PXE to be elected and provide PXE services to the new subnet.  Enabled new subnet for PXE service, we've also created a package to install PXE files required instead of self-downloading, as well as edit registry to up the PXE_SVC_SCORE.  Deivce 1-PXE still remains as the elected device for the first subnet even though it now resides on the new subnet.

Device Nicknames?

Is it possible to create Device Nicknames and add that as a column in when viewing all devices?

 

Our devices are all named for their company inventory tag number so sorting by device name can be confusing. The Owner value usually shows the user name, but some of them display the Admin username (I think this is because I installed the agent manually using the Admin account) and some of them don't have anything in the field at all.

 

Is it possible to set a Device Nickname and be able to sort/search the devices using the assigned nickname?

Automate PXE Boot to Deploy Image

Hello,

 

We are just switching over to Ivanti Endpoint and one of the main features I am utilizing is the provisioning. I got the PXE Rep and DHCP setup (they are separate machines) and working so I can now PXE boot to deploy an image. However, the first two PCs I PXE booted seemed to automatically grab a template and image without the prompt for credentials, and selecting a template etc. so I was confused but, ultimately I would like to have that automation in place and customizable. I have searched all over the help and website with no luck in finding how to control this. Can anyone point me in the right direction?

 

Summary: I would like to automate PXE booting/image deployment but can't find where to automate the credentials and template selection after the initial PXE boot.

time out adding files to distribution package

We are having problems adding files to distribution packages when running the Management Console on a device that is not the Core Server.  These issues do not occur when the Management Console is run from the core server.

 

The issue occurs when we try to to add files to a distribution package.  It hangs for a minute or two and then I receive "the operation has timed out" error popup.  I am using http Web path and it has worked in the past from a remote management console.

As an example of what I'm doing, Using FQDN (http://asdf.contoso.com/packages) doesn't work and I get the time out, however if I shorten it to http://asdf/packages then it does work.  In order for distribution to work on our devices, the FQDN must be used here.  I have verified that I can access the full path in a web browser (IE) on those servers, but it doesn't seem like the management console can browse to it using FQDN.

 

Also, to reiterate, when on the core server using FQDN works fine.

 

If anyone has seen this and has a suggestion I would appreciate it.

We are in the process of setting up a very large enterprise.

We normally distribute software and access via Security Groups within Active Directory.

 

How can we query a list of machines Primary Owners to a list of Users in an Active Directory Group?

 

Essentially, creating automatic scheduled tasks for machines owned by users in a certain Security Group?

Ivanti EPM 2018.1 current experiences

Good Afternoon,

 

I wanted to start a friendly discussion on everyone's experiences with Ivanti 2018.1 so far.  I am wondering if the problems we are having are an issue with an unknown bug (which i highly doubt) or something else on our end.

 

Currently our problem is random, but templates fail to deploy usually on the Deployment of packages stage of the template.  But a template that takes normally say 2 hours to run, now takes 5 or more hours to run and most of the time fails.  It seems to be completely random (location based).  Our network team states that they see nothing wrong.  We do have an active case open and working with support, but wanted feedback from anyone using 2018.1.

 

Our other experiences so far are with Network Map:  Even though we are not discovering over WAP but the agent discovered all nodes from our laptop devices from our wireless subnets.  It also discovered users home networks and added them to our network MAP and not sure how we can remove that.  i haven't contacted support about this as our other issue is more important.  For the time being we disabled Network mapping.

 

Another possible issue is with PXE Booting.  I had PXE booting working in 2017.3 and since upgrading to 2018.1 I seem to not be able to detect a PXE rep on the subnet.  Again becuase of the other issue, I have not looked into this at this time.

 

Outside of that, everything else seems to be going great.

 

So that being said, what have your experiences been?

Real Time Inventory and Monitoring

we have changed the Agent Configuration with the Real time inventory and monitoring options.

How could we setup this change to all client that already have the agent installed?

How to import an antivirus license key into the core console

Issue:

Once an antivirus key has been received from Ivanti support, a Landesk administrator will need to apply the key to the core console before the end users will stop receiving alerts about an expiring license.

 

Solution:

1) Before beginning this process, the Anti-Virus key will need to be downloaded from portal.ivanti.com.

2) From the core console > Tools> Security and Compliance> Security activity

 

3) In the Security Activity console > Select the settings (gear) icon > Select LANDESK Antivirus license information

 

4) Select the ellipses (...) next to Path: > locate the uncompressed .key file that was downloaded from portal.ivanti.com > Import

 

The next time a Vulscan is run on the client machines, they should no longer be receiving these alerts.

Ivanti EPM 2018.1 Teams issue

When we upgraded to 2018.1 all Ivanti admins are seeing all teams folders in every module. I checked RBA and LD admins is not part of those teams or groups. Why are we seeing like 10 extra folders we don't need to see?
