Hi,
I was able to successfully deploy an application via the Portal manager but the status in the portal shows as Failed.
sdclient log has this information :
Fri, 23 Jan 2015 04:40:38 RunPackageInstall: stop on returncode=db00001 of package=Install - Sophos SafeGuard Config
Fri, 23 Jan 2015 04:40:38 processing of package is complete, result 229638145 (0x0db00001 - code 1)
The above return code might have set the status as Failed in the portal.
Can you please let us know how to fix the status in the portal?
Thanks,
Gopal
It happened only on one PC.
On that one PC, after I installed Management Suite Console (Version 9.6 Service Pack 1), I clicked the Management Console Icon to open it up but it error out saying "Console Initialization Error: Exception has been thrown by the target of an invocation". I uninstalled and re-installed 4-5 times and it is still giving the same error.
It did not happen on all the other PC's.
Please help.

Hi
Could someone tell me if Management Studio 9.6 supports installation on Windows Server 2008 R2 Core?
Thanks

I'm wondering if I change when LANDESK AV is set to run a full scan, does that replicate automatically to all the matching clients or does it require a push? If I have to push it, how would I go about finding all the agents that need to be updated.
Hi All,
I am deploying few patches by using policy method to a client device with “notify user , also allowing cancel & defer “ option. Before starting the repair , If I am cancelling the deployment task by selecting the “cancel” option from the client device , how the patch manager will handle this task again on this device. Will it prompt after some time on the same device ? Which are logs that I can refer for this ?
Thanks in advance.
Core & Client : LDMS 9.5 without SP
Kind Regards,
Joby George
One of my endpoints has a 23" monitor attached (it has been there for at least a year) however LDMS is reporting a 15" monitor (which was there when LDMS was first installed on the pc)
LDMS agent has been updated since then & is now at the current agent version, but still shows a 15" monitor in the inventory screen. Any ideas why it would not be updating?
Theoretically, I can remove the endpoint & have it re-scan, but that is just a band-aid, if things aren't reporting accurately.
Hi, we are planning to change the IP address of an established Landesk Management Gateway. The conditions are:
1. There is only 1 ethernet connection for the appliance.
2. There is no possibility of adding another ethernet cable for the other ethernet connection.
3. The only access are via Web Console and Putty. No access to the appliance physically.
4. Ability to revert back in-case the change of IP fails.
5. IP address are from different VLAN.
The IP address is currently configured in eth0
If I add another IP address for eth0 (number 2) and deleted the original eth0 (number 1), save the settings and change the VLAN accordingly from the network switch side. Will this procedure work and will let me access the web console? This procedure is a risk as if it fails, I will not have access to the appliance to fix it. So we want to be careful with the change of IP address.
Or will it need reboot after the change of IP Address is done?
Maybe you have done the change of IP address before with almost the same conditions as above.
Hope to hear from you! Thanks in advance.
Hello,
My company just purchased the Total user management suite from Landesk. I have installed the core server and deployed the agent to a point group of IT users. I am having some trouble finding information as far as best practices and/or a quick start guide. I will be taking the bootcamp probably next month but wanted to get a little more exposure before hand. Any suggestions or recommendations on setting up a new environment would be greatly appreciated. Any gotchas I should watch out for or best practices on structure of users and machines. Also IT Roles and Responsibilities. Who is in change of what modules? How many people does it require? How much time does it take to do this right?
A little about our environment. We are a small 24 hour Hotel and Casino with about 600 client devices. 24 hour IT operations with 15 personnel ranging from network/system administrators to desktop technicians/Help desk. No desktop management has ever been used. Everything is done manually.
As for myself. At my last place of employment I was a member of the Novell ZENWorks team. So I do have some limited experience in desktop management although I am completely new to the LanDesk product. I was the driving force to getting some sort of Desktop management when I came onboard as I know the value of this type of system. We looked at several vendors and we all agreed that LanDesk seemed to be a good fit for our environment.
So all that being said. I am excited to learn more and start using Landesk. Any pointers and/or suggestions anyone has would to greatly appreciated.
Thanks in advanced.

Is there a way to automate the process of putting patches into appropriate groups that match a certain criteria?
For instance, I have a group of 5 servers that I want to have their patches placed into a custom group when any of the computers are missing a patch, that way a monthly patch job can run a patch job based upon that custom group.
So, in other words:
5 Servers run vulscan and detect patch 100, 101, 102, and 103 are missing on X machines in the group.
Patch 100, 101, 102 and 103 are then placed into custom group "Missing Patches For Servers"
My monthly patch schedule runs and patches against the definitions inside "Missing Patches For Servers" custom group.
It's similar to the "detected" folder, but more defined so I'm not scanning 7000 definitions on custom groups that are only missing X known patches.
Thanks,
Blake
Hi
We recently lost our core server to a major failure. We created a new server. LDMS 9.6 has been installed on the server. Is there any way to import the agents from various clients? I am trying to avoid recreating and re-pushing out new agents.
Thanks
Randy
I configured my fuse login initially for my test server to verify the interface works. I now want to switch to my production server, but I don't see any way to change the fuse configuration.
I checked the box to save my password, so it is automatically logging me in when I launch fuse.
Is there a way to change the server that fuse points to? LDMS 9.6 SP1
Thanks!
Hello,
how I can remote the client computer without the client know or remote the client computer without the session icon shows???
Push task will get device stuck when screen is locked ( stays active indefinitly ) and will ruin the contact to the agent until I reboot the computer.
Hey guys,
Using LD 9.6 p1. I have an issue lots of task get stuck with active decives. After some research I discovered that when you trying to install a program via Push and the screen is getting locked while installing this device will get stuck in the task. The device will stay active and the task too only way to resolve this issue is delete the active pc from the task. after I have cancelled the task as it is in an active state.
When I look at the log folder \\ldclient\data I see the task hasn't been modified since the start of the lock. The .tmp file of the task is still available.
Next issue this is creating it will make your agent no function anymore to the Core. This issue is resolved when I reboot the computer.
After rebooting the task will get a successful status (already installed ) while the package isn't correctly installed
Does somebody else has the same issue ?
wondering if there is a way to identify in the reboot notification message the patch name(s) that was installed which triggered the need for a reboot?
this is for regular patch updates - not a specific SW distribution task.
Our agent is set to scan a specific custom group for any patch updates & uses the same reboot message no matter what patch has been installed. Is there some variable or placeholder I can add to the prompt text to list the recently installed patches?
Thanks!
Hi Everyone,

Anyone got this problem before?
Thanks
One of my clients received the following error today. Has anyone experienced the same? We're running LDMS with the Patch only module 9.6 SP1.

Apparently they released a CP but I can't find any release notes for it. Does anyone know what it addresses?
Thanks
Mike
We use a sync core to standardize agent configs and agent settings, as well as other common things, to our 6 production cores. I am currently building out our new 9.6 SP1 environment (planning migration from 9.5 SP2) and I've found a possible issue in the Client Connectivity settings.
On the 9.6 Sync core I built out all the agent settings and agent configs and set up the sync connection to our freshly built Dev core. Everything seemed to sync properly. On the Dev core, when attempting to push an agent, the task fails, and when building an agent installer, the console shows an error. Digging into the logs, i found that the problem was that it couldn't find the certificate file. I checked the Client Connectivity Settings used by the agent config (both originating from the Sync core) and found that it wanted the cert from the Sync core. I also noticed that the Core [server] address that it was pointing to was the Sync core FQDN rather than the Dev core that the agent was supposed to be connecting to.
After discovering this, my workaround plan was going to be sync'ing over the settings and agent configs, clearing the sync target status on the agent configs and then using a core-specific client connectivity setting for each core to include in the agent config. Unfortunately, when you clear the sync target status on the agent config, the console offers a warning:
"Clearing the sync target status will only be temporary if the source core resends this
If this item is resent, the changes you have made including clearing
sync target status will be overwritten. Continue?"
Through this, I have also discovered that it won't allow you to delete an item designated as a "default".
So my questions to the community, is what I've discovered regarding the client connectivity settings a feature or a bug? Has anyone else run into it and, if so, how did you work around it?
To me it seems somewhat problematic to be able to sync something that isn't able to be used on the target core. Thoughts?
Back in December 2014, after pushing out some Microsoft updates, almost everyone in our agency with an HP printer installed had to re-install their print driver. It seemed to only affect clients on Windows 7 64-bit with Office 2010 32-bit installed and using the HP Universal Print Driver. I just assumed it was a bad patch from Microsoft and didn't look into it further.
Then the same thing happened again two weeks ago after pushing out February 2015 Microsoft updates to clients. This time I was able to narrow the problem down to a specific patch: "Update for Microsoft OneNote 2010 (KB2956075) 32-Bit Edition"
After installing the patch, there are 7 files that end up being deleted from C:\Windows\System32\spool\drivers\x64\3\ - The files are:
stddtype.gpl
stdnames.gpd
stdschmx.gdl
unidrv.dll
unidrv.hlp
unires.dll
However, it is not the patch that is deleting the files. Running Sysinternals ProcMon shows that it is actually SoftMon.exe from LANDesk deleting the files. This happens a few minutes after the patch has completed its install. At this point I am not sure why those files are being deleted, but when it does happen, it breaks printers using the HP Universal Print Driver.
This problem does not happen if I remove the SoftMon component from the LANDesk agent by running softmon.exe /remove.
