Data Analytics and Adobe DC/2017

$

I'm trying to get licensing counts for Adobe Acrobat, and of course in Adobe's infinite wisdom, they make this very difficult since Acrobat DC.

There is a Data Analytics piece designed to read the SWIDTAG files and determine if the version is Pro or Std, however it does not work for me. So I am digging through it, and found that it is trying to find information here:

Computer.Software.Configuration Files.File.File Data

I don't have that entry in my system's inventories. So, I tried following instructions here on adding the .SWIDTAG into the CfgFiles in 'Manage Software List' and adding the *.SWIDTAG to the 'To be scanned' section, but I am still not seeing it pull from inventory scans. (yes, I did publish it to the clients)

Does anyone have some ideas on how to get this going? I came across a couple articles from a few years ago, but they don't seem relevant any more.

Currently on IEM 2017.3 SU1. And yes, I have the latest DataAnalytics patch downloaded.

PXE TFTP Boot Issues Windows 10 1709

If you are having issues with a machine that is a pxe rep not allowing machines to actually boot and get the TFTP time out issue, look into the windows firewall settings. See attached pictures for new rules you need to create to allow connections to pass through correctly. The firewall in Windows 10 Release 1709 are way more in depth than previously. However these rules do not have to be limited to 1709 exclusively.

Query data on the patch Description tab?

In the properties for a patch on the Description tab there's 2 fields we'd like to query:

1) Text of the description

2) The URL under "More Information at"

See attached image. I'm not finding a way to query this in the Queries section, can it be done with SQL? Or am I missing these fields somewhere in the query gui?

Current version is 2016.3.

Ivanti Endpoint Management in the cloud?

Any idea on Ivanti Endpoint Management in the cloud, if it's already release and available? As per Rex McMillan, Principal Product Manager, the one who discussed the New in Ivanti Endpoint Manager 2017.1 (formerly LANDESK Management Suite) last June 2017 on demand webinar that the Endpoint Management is now available on cloud and it's hosted in AWS and will be release soon for the people who like a hosted vs. on premise solution. I need to know if it is already release and available for trial? Thanks.

How does a software bundle with inter-package reboot handle VPN users? .. Mine Stops

Hi all,

Wonder if someone can help , struggling a little.

I have a Package Bundle to remove and re-install software (via batch files) with a Inter-Package action of a reboot after removal and the once installed.

Within our Office environment it works well (ish), however, when I deploy to users on our VPN network, the download and removal works fine. This triggers a reboot dropping our VPN client and user, however, we're noticing when they log back in and subsequently the VPN again the task fails to continue. I'm checking task logs and can only see this:

servers targeted with ldap query

$

Is there any way to prevent servers from getting targeted in scheduled tasks via a ldap query?  Cant find anything on this and it's becoming an issue.  Software is getting deployed to servers because we have users targeted and they are logging in on servers. ie/ computer support staff and this also affects citrix servers.

Any advice?  currently LANDesk version 2016 sp3

Thanks

Val

Does anyone have a clever way of deploying the Ivanti Management Console to client machines using... the Ivanti Management Console?

$

0

It's killing me. I've searched and searched, and as you can imagine from the keywords needed, it's difficult to find information on deploying the actual console from the console. Methods I've tried and their results:

Extracting the self-extracting Ivanti2017-3.exe file that I downloaded from Ivanti to the core, then creating and scheduling a new distribution package for executable and including all of those unzipped files. I've tried the scheduled task two ways, one where it downloads everything and then executes (this did not work at all, I am guessing because it has to enumerate around 13,000 files) and one where we execute right from the core (which works on a small number of machines, and very slowly, likely due to so many clients trying to execute the same installation from the same source.)

Creating and scheduling an executable package for the self-extracting Ivanti2017-3.exe file, passing it the the switches I want for the actual setup.exe, and hoping it sends those along when it extracts and tries to run setup. Hint, it doesn't. Task just gets hung, I assume because it never actually properly launches the setup.exe with my switches (which are: /update /S feature=RemoteConsole, btw)

Creating and scheduling a .bat package that first calls the self-extracting Ivanti2017-3.exe file, then tries to execute C:\Ivanti2017-3\Setup.exe with my switches, since that's where it extracts to. This fails with an exit code of 17234. I can actually see setup running on the machine, but nothing ever seems to happen.

Extracting the self-extracting Ivanti2017-3.exe file, then RE-zipping those files up, creating a batch package that also copies down the command line version of 7zip, the newly created zip file with all of the the Ivanti Management Console contents, then having the batch execute the command-line z7ip, extracting the contents of the zipped up Ivanti stuff, then the batch file tries to execute the Ivanti setup.exe file with my switches. I can't actually remember why this failed, but I do remember it didn't work.

I'm out of ideas, and can provide logs if someone can help. I just don't knwo why it's so difficult to deploy the console with the console.

Thanks in advance!

Management agent disabled on Windows Domain controllers

We are on 10.3 and for some reason all our Domain controllers and some other Win 2012R2 member servers are setting the Landesk Management Agent service to DISABLED after a reboot. I can't figure out why. Anybody else experienced the same issue?

Thanks.

How do I push agent to unmanaged devices? I can see the devices I want to push the agent to under unmanaged device discovery but I can't drag them to a task.

Landesk Managment Console wont open after McAfee install

A few days ago, I had a brain fart and uninstalled the AV client on our LANDesk server. When the AV client was reinstalled, Landesk started acting wonky and after a reboot, the Managment Suite wont open. You can see it in the task manager for a second before it disappears. Any help would be great.

LANDesk MBSDK API

So I'm trying to automate some of my repetitive tasks in LANDesk (but not fully) And I'm so close I'm just stuck on 2 last components.

I have created a program to pull and compose a list of required vulnerability updates for 2 specific Device Scopes that are either not set to Autofix and/or not in a specific Custom Group. I did this with a SQL query because there was too much to pull together that it didn't make sense to do in API alone.

So I've figured out the API to move it to the Custom group if it is not there, but I can't figure out how to download the required patches if they are not downloaded and I can't figure out how to set the AutoFix flag for a specific Scope and not globally.

I have no problem querying information to display from SQL but I would rather have the safety net of an API to actually make changes.

Are my 2 missing components even possible in API?

I am currently on LDMS 9.60 SP2 but am in the process of moving to Ivanti 2017.3 so an API that would work on both would be ideal but if it's only gonna work on 2017.3 that's fine too.

Best practises for creating an IEM UAT test environment?

Hi there,

I'd like to update our IEM core from 2017.1SU1 to 2017.3 (in order to hopefully resolve a BSOD bug that's popping up on some machines who's agent has been updated from 9.6sp3 -> 2017.1SU1).

However, before I do this on the production core I'd like to test the update in a lab environment.

I have updated a test core now to 2017.3, I've rebuilt the agents and created a self contained exe agent and have installed this on a test workstation (hoping to install on another 3-4 for testing the BSOD doesn't occur).

As the UAT core contains a backup of the live database I've disabled the scheduler service so no tasks are run on production devices.

Question is, is there a recommended series of tests you can run through to verify most systems are functional, without affecting live devices?  Does anyone else have a UAT testing procedure they use before updating IEM on their production core?

I can run tests such as software distribution to the handful of devices with the UAT agent, but I would have to enable the scheduler service for this wouldn't I....and that may potentially mean old tasks start running against devices, unless I clear every one out first perhaps.

Unmanaged Printers & Managed Devices Capabilities

In unmanaged devices, can scan the printers attached on the network. It is possible to detect on the printer who's machine connected on the specific printer?

Also, it is possible to detect all account logon on the specific devices with agent? Specifically, if the machine is used by more than 5 person/account.

How to include group membership as part of a query?

I must be missing something, but I can't seem to locate where in the query builder to include group membership as part of a query.  I've used a query as a basis for group membership before, but I can't find a way to include an object's group membership as part of a query's criteria.  Thanks in advance for pointing out what will likely be obvious, I just can't seem to find it!

Preferred Server Issue

We currently have 75 preferred servers globally.  We have noticed lately that software don't always seem to pull from preferred servers but from source.    I did a test with PEdownloader and it works just fine with the Preferred server.   We are running 2017.3 and server 2012.    We have verified in the console that the preferred server read and write settings work.   But can someone advise what account the agent uses to connect to the share on the preferred server?   This way we can verify it has proper permission.
