Scheduled Tasks active then pending within seconds of running.

We have noticed as of last week that when creating a repair job within patch manager and then running the task it goes into an active state and then within seconds jumps back into pending.

It would seem the repair job is never run as none of the patches are installed. This is a major issue for us as we are about to bring onboard another 350 PC's into the core that need urgently patching.

I have looked at the LANDesk.Scheduler.GlobalScheduler.exe.log as I just ran the task again and got the attached when it ran (LandeskSchedulerGlobalSchedulerlog.txt)

Looking at the Console.exe.log while I ran the task only showed the following:

INFO  7952:Main Thread RollingLog : SaveToDB: Repair PUWEB-C-QA03, (type Tasks and Policies)
INFO  7952:Main Thread RollingLog : SaveToDB: Task templates, (type ERootTaskTemplateGroup)

INFO  7952:Main Thread RollingLog : SaveToDB: Task templates, (type ERootTaskTemplateGroup)

PolicyTaskHandler.exe.log which is also attached to me does not seem to show any errors.

This is my major concern as I cannot find any errors within any log on the core. We have also restarted the core server and the server the DB is hosted on. Checked and the Scheduler is correct and using credentials that work.

Anyone's help would be greatly appreciated.

Current version we are running:

send machine name to core server

Id trying to pinpoint which application on client installs of Ivanti pushes machine info, specifically the device name, back to the core server

Machines will naturally sync this info but id like to have an on demand method should we be deploying the client and have to rename the device shortly after.

I have a hunch one of the following handles this process : GatherProducts.exe, SoftMon.exe, or PolicySync.exe

Setting alerts for software changes

$

I wish to create an email alert for any changes in Add/Remove Programs--whether a program is installed or removed. I read a previous thread on this topic (Recieve alerts when new programs are installed? ) and also consulted the materials on this topic (Monitoring and Alerting ). I have done the following so far:

  • Modified the Inventory Change Settings to log events and create an alert regarding the name of any program added or removed under Add or Remove Programs
  • Created a ruleset specifying any alerts for Add or Remove Programs be emailed to me
  • Deployed the new ruleset to my computer

However, I tested a few times by installing programs that do create entries under Add or Remove Programs, but no alert arrived. Nothing is listed in the Alert log of LDMS. There is no sendmail log file in the root of the LDMS installation directory. I am at a loss as to what I am missing. The training video (DOC-5674) did not shed any light on the problem.

We are using LDMS 9.50. My computer is running Windows 10 x64 Version 1703.

Migrate database from 9.6 to 2017.3

Does anyone know if it is possible to migrate/import a database from LANDesk 9.6 SP2 to 2017.3?  I've got my new core up and running on its own database, but it has taken me so long to do that, there are a myriad of things out of sync.  There are only two choices that I can see: either I go through by hand and make all the changes from one core to the other, or I can have the DBA restore a snapshot of the current database and reinstall LANDesk which will do the upgrade for me.  I am really hoping I can avoid the pain of either option.

Data Analytics and Adobe DC/2017

$

I'm trying to get licensing counts for Adobe Acrobat, and of course in Adobe's infinite wisdom, they make this very difficult since Acrobat DC.

There is a Data Analytics piece designed to read the SWIDTAG files and determine if the version is Pro or Std, however it does not work for me. So I am digging through it, and found that it is trying to find information here:

Computer.Software.Configuration Files.File.File Data

I don't have that entry in my system's inventories. So, I tried following instructions here on adding the .SWIDTAG into the CfgFiles in 'Manage Software List' and adding the *.SWIDTAG to the 'To be scanned' section, but I am still not seeing it pull from inventory scans. (yes, I did publish it to the clients)

Does anyone have some ideas on how to get this going? I came across a couple articles from a few years ago, but they don't seem relevant any more.

Currently on IEM 2017.3 SU1. And yes, I have the latest DataAnalytics patch downloaded.

Hello I'm getting the following error when deploying my Windows 7 OS.

Hello.

I'm trying to download associated patches in Patch Management.  I can download the patches for Microsoft but not for other vendors (like Apple, Adobe, Google, Mozilla, etc.).  I have the role for Patch Management in EndPoint.  The other person who does the patches with me has admin rights in EndPoint.  He's able to download them without any issues.  Do I need additional rights on the core server or in EndPoint to allow me to download non-Microsoft patches?

New Ivanti agent unable to connect to new core

$

Hi all,

I've got a Landesk 9.6SP2 server that I inherited, and I am bringing a 2017.3 system up in parallel.  I cloned the database and installed 2017.3, and now I am to the point where I am running a test system with an agent.  I created the new agent after making new definitions in the requisite places (client connectivity, inventory settings, etc) to point to the new server.  The agent installs, I can remote it and the system will send inventory data, but the security scan fails in a couple of places.  It fails on "Checking for updated settings" with "Failed: No response from core" and "Checking for updates on core XXXX", then in "Parsing Information" it says "Failed: Cannot interpret data".  Looking at the vulscan log, I have two errors: "Self-update failure: Core did not return requested file hashes" and "ERROR: Unable to get contents of file: "C:\programdata\vulscan\ReplicationBehavior_Replicator_11577.xml"

I do not find that file in the vulscan directory and I don't know what process would create it, but I do find a lot of references to the old core, so I removed all the agents and definitions that imported from the old database and made a new agent from the default settings that pointed to the new definitions I created earlier.  I still have many references to the old server in the vulscan direcctory, but I don't know where they are coming from, or if they are even the problem.   Any pointers would be greatly appreciated.  Thanks.

MBSDK replacement timeline

Since no new API features are going to be added to the current MBSDK, is there a timeline when we will be able to utilize the new SDK?  Maybe as a beta?

Does anyone have a clever way of deploying the Ivanti Management Console to client machines using... the Ivanti Management Console?

$

It's killing me. I've searched and searched, and as you can imagine from the keywords needed, it's difficult to find information on deploying the actual console from the console. Methods I've tried and their results:

Extracting the self-extracting Ivanti2017-3.exe file that I downloaded from Ivanti to the core, then creating and scheduling a new distribution package for executable and including all of those unzipped files. I've tried the scheduled task two ways, one where it downloads everything and then executes (this did not work at all, I am guessing because it has to enumerate around 13,000 files) and one where we execute right from the core (which works on a small number of machines, and very slowly, likely due to so many clients trying to execute the same installation from the same source.)

Creating and scheduling an executable package for the self-extracting Ivanti2017-3.exe file, passing it the the switches I want for the actual setup.exe, and hoping it sends those along when it extracts and tries to run setup. Hint, it doesn't. Task just gets hung, I assume because it never actually properly launches the setup.exe with my switches (which are: /update /S feature=RemoteConsole, btw)

Creating and scheduling a .bat package that first calls the self-extracting Ivanti2017-3.exe file, then tries to execute C:\Ivanti2017-3\Setup.exe with my switches, since that's where it extracts to. This fails with an exit code of 17234. I can actually see setup running on the machine, but nothing ever seems to happen.

Extracting the self-extracting Ivanti2017-3.exe file, then RE-zipping those files up, creating a batch package that also copies down the command line version of 7zip, the newly created zip file with all of the the Ivanti Management Console contents, then having the batch execute the command-line z7ip, extracting the contents of the zipped up Ivanti stuff, then the batch file tries to execute the Ivanti setup.exe file with my switches. I can't actually remember why this failed, but I do remember it didn't work.

I'm out of ideas, and can provide logs if someone can help. I just don't knwo why it's so difficult to deploy the console with the console.

Thanks in advance!

Landesk EPS - LDAV Kaspersky and Windows 10 Fall update 1709.

We are finding that LDAV KAV is not compatible with Windows 10's Fall update (1709).

All clients upgraded to the Fall update have the LDAV/KAV crashing or consuming multiple cores for no apparent reason. It also marks all LDAV clients as "invalid keys or not activated" and when you look the logs, there are literally millions of entries with the same text:

ERROR: Failed to delete Kaspersky Endpoint Security 10 Service Pack 1 Maintenance Release 3

We also tried building Windows 10 1709s from scratch and the behavior is the same.

  • C:\Program Data\LANDesk\Log creating new, 2MB ldav_install.X.log files at the rate of at least 8 per minute, rolling over after 8 (for a total of 8), each containing tens of thousands of repetitions of:

Anybody else having this problem?

Is this another bug?

Thanks in advance.

How to import an antivirus license key into the core console

$
0
0

Issue:

Once an antivirus key has been received from Ivanti support, a Landesk administrator will need to apply the key to the core console before the end users will stop receiving alerts about an expiring license.

Solution:

1) Before beginning this process, the Anti-Virus key will need to be downloaded from portal.ivanti.com.

atmgr_2017-12-20_15-27-21.png

2) From the core console > Tools> Security and Compliance> Security activity

3) In the Security Activity console > Select the settings (gear) icon > Select LANDESK Antivirus license information

4) Select the ellipses (...) next to Path: > locate the unzipped .key file that was downloaded from portal.ivanti.com > Import

The next time a Vulscan is run on the client machines, they should no longer be receiving these alerts.

Hallo,

When I click "remind me later" button in "a reboot is required for changes to take effect" window and postpone reboot for some time and during that time I restart workstation manually, there is still timer which shows "a reboot is required ..." windows again.

Can somebody approve this behaviour which for me seems like a bug?

Is Ivanti open today?

I re-opened an existing case this morning and tried to request a callback and got a message that I'm requesting it outside of normal business hours. I created a new case this afternoon, for both cases I'm still getting the same message trying to request a callback. I've been on automated hold rotation with the 800 number on your home page (I realize it's not a support number but it's the only number visible on your site) for over an hour now. I don't see anything anywhere on your websites that says Ivanti isn't performing support today, and I'm not getting any message notification while I'm on hold that Ivanti is closed, just the repeating high call volume message. What's going on? We have a serious license issue that needs resolved asap...
