WinPE ethernet I217-LM Issue

Hi Everyone,

I am having issues injecting the intel I217-lm Ethernet driver into WINPe, I am currently getting the Error 0x80070002 failed to load driver.   How ever, I am able to manually load this driver in WinPE with a flash drive which leads me to believe it is not a compatibility issue. I have read in a few places that this is a known issue and wondering if anyone here has ran into this issue or something similar and able to get it resolved?

I have verified all the pxe reps have the updated wim files, I have also tried multiple drivers and so far the one I am sticking with is downloaded directly from Intel as it is the only one I was able to manually load during WInPE.

The computer being imaged is a HP Prodesk 600 G4 SFF    WIN 10 x64,

How to install or schedule MacOS agent deployment

$

0

Manual Installation

Local installation steps

  1. Create the MacOS Agent Configuration in the Ivanti Management Console
  2. Open Safari or another browser
  3. Browse to http://<coreServerFQDN>/ldlogon/mac (coreServerIPaddress should work as well)
  4. Select name of the agent configuration that is desired
  5. Once the agent configuration has been downloaded run the installer (requires admin rights).

Copy agent configuration .dmg locally

  1. Navigate to \LANDesk\ManagementSuite\ldlogon\mac on the core server
  2. Copy the .dmg from the core to the client
  3. Run .dmg locally

Schedule MacOS agent from core

Prerequisites

Configure scheduler account on core server

Make sure the LANDesk Scheduler Service has an administrative account that can read, write, and execute applications locally

    • On the Core Console, select Configure then Services
    • Select the Scheduler tab
    • Select the Change Login... button
    • Click Add
    • Enter the Mac administrative account that will be managing all desired Mac devices on the network

MacSchedulerAccount.jpg

Enable remote login locally

  • Select the Apple
  • Select System Preferences
  • Select the Sharing folder
  • Check Remote Login

Verify firewall settings locally

In most environments the firewall does not need to be configured as MacOS firewall is application based and handles the ports accordingly. The Security and Privacy settings screenshot below is a representation of what is typical. To verify if the firewall is set to defaults, see below:

  • Click the Apple
  • Select System Preferences...
  • Select Security & Privacy
  • Select the Firewall tab

If the firewall needs to be enabled on Mac devices, please refer to this document for essential ports necessary to facilitate Mac to LANDesk connectivity:About Ports used by Ivanti Endpoint Manager ( EPM ) / LANDESK Management Suite ( LDMS ) - full list

Steps to schedule agent deployment

  1. Detect the Macintosh devices using Unmanaged Device Discovery (UDD)
  2. Create the Agent Configuration
  3. Deploy the Mac agent to the unmanaged device

Issue: Blue Screen Occurring During Inventory Scan

Issue

Computer crashes with a Blue Screen 0x3 during an Inventory Scan.

Cause

File System instability on Windows 1809.  When running an inventory scan runs a software scan the machine crashes with a Blue Screen. The crash dump file points to the inventory scanner being the cause, however, this is not the case.

This issue occurs on the newest build of Windows (1809), which has had reported Blue Screen issues.

Resolution

Patch MS18-12-W10-4483235_INTL has been shown to resolve this issue.  This patch is the lastest Cumulative Security patch for Windows as of this writing.  It is recommended to use the latest available Cumulative Security patch for Windows.

Asset Control / Data Translation Services – No cross platform central location for MAC Address - Iterating through Child Record MAC Addresses?

$

I’ve found that under Device > TCPIP > Address – There is the IP address of the device, Padded and unpadded. Very convenient. Why is there not the same for Physical Address? I’ve checked among the different manufactures of devices that we have and there simply isn’t one.

The first and fourth child Network Adapter record does not contain and physical address field or is null. The second and third have a value, but the 2nd record’s Physical address field is all zeros. Clearly in this situation the third record would be the obvious real mac address to use. However not all are this obvious.

So my Idea is that using some VBS and a calculation rule, I may be able to iterate through the child records and write them all to an array, then identify the best mac to grab. Then write it to the Physical address field on the MP_AP_Devices table.

Calculation Rule VBS

Dim macAddress(9)

Dim x

For x = 1 to 10

macAddress(x-1) = !Device.Network Adapters.Network Adapter.Physical Address!

Next

RetValue = (Join(!Device.Network Adapters.Network Adapter.Physical Address!) & " ")

There's a few obvious issues here:

1. I am able to iterate through the MacAddress Array, however, not able to iterate through the variable reference to Physical Address. Not sure if that's even possible or how to try that..

2. I decided to join all the strings together on the final line. There is no mechanism here to break down the strings and device which is most likely the MAC address.

Any ideas?

Btw, in case anyone wants to ask for some reason, were on version 18.3 about 7500 Managed and 3000 Asset Control..

How to disable IPv6 on the Core and PE

We are running Ivanti EPM 2018

WE have been having intermittent bandwidth or connectivity issues with clients.

I would like to rule out IPv6 as a cause and was wondering if their was a way to turn it off completely.  We do not utilize it here at the University and looking to disable it on all clients anyway.

Any thoughts or help is much appreciated.

Server Clusters - Install an Agent?

We have server clusters in our environment. Our network team is claiming that they consist of two or more servers and that they would be incapable of having an agent on them. Though we are installing agents on the servers inside, I would be interested if any of you guys have ever installed an agent on a cluster or if its even possible. These "clusters" are coming up in UDD as Windows Servers.

Easy way to maintain multiple patch branches?

I am currently on 2017.3 SU 5 and I have been asked to look into creating separate patch branches for different systems based upon function.  As far as I can tell, the only way to do this is to manually release patches to groups set up as such, and forego using autofix.  Am I correct in this thinking?

Peer Download for MacOS

Hi I'm a little confuse if peer download is working on macOS devices or not.

On the Agent Configuration it says the setting will not applied:

But in here:

Are all those in the agent settings all true? Like the bandwidth control etc.

Discover servers not receiving updates

Hi all,

We recently discovered an issue where a number of servers were not receiving updates as a recommended update was blocking Windows Update from determining that there were critical patches available.

Does anyone know of a way within Ivanti Endpoint Security to list servers that have have not had updates applied within the past 'x' months?

Regards,

Craig

Does anyone know how to schedule a Remote Control Summary report with pre-chosen parameters?

$

I need to generate a report each month (for the previous month) that shows all remote control events for a specific scope.  Now, if I run the canned report "Remote Control Summary" or "Remote Control History by managed device" from Endpoint Manager, I can choose the date range and the scope and generate what I need manually, but I'd like to be able to go ahead and set these parameters and then just have it scheduled to email out every month.  Does anyone know how I can do this?  if I just "Schedule" it I don't see any way to set the parameters?  What am I missing?
